Hi Allyson, Thanks for enlightening me that the savoury mince Pan Rolls that we make in the South is called 'Panterass' in Calcutta. I have noted this in my reference book. Its so nice of you to share this information and I'm sure others too will benefit from this information.

Yes there is a dish called "Pantrass". It consists of a savoury mince placed in a pancake, which is rolled in egg wash and then breadcrumbs, eventually deep fried. Some people refer to it as pan rolls.
The mince has onions, coriander, garam masala, chillies, ginger, garlic, salt and dash of worcestershire sauce. The pancake is only cooked on one side. The cooked side is placed on a plate and the mince mixture added to the uncooked side. You have to make these one at a time so that the pancake sticks together. Then roll in egg wash and breadcrumbs. I am sure Bridget will now recognise what we are referring to as "Panterass". I think this is the Calcutta Anglo Indian name for the dish. If you need the recipe just let me know.

Hi Bertram
Sorry there's no dish named Pantrass. You might have got the spelling wrong. Do let me know how you heard of this dish and what sort of dish ie a curry dish, Indian Bread etc.
I was wondering whether you meant PARANTHAS????
